We are in the Christmas season and the stores and malls are packed with people shopping for gifts for their loved ones and friends. Everyone seems to be caught up in the spirit of the season. Giving gifts to one another is high on the priority list. Taking time to find that perfect gift for a loved one or friend seems to be as pleasurable as seeing the look on their face when they open it and its exactly what they wanted. In our family, we make up Christmas lists of the things we would like as gifts. That way we are sure everyone knows what we would like. It helps to eliminate any unwanted surprises. If you know what I mean.
When it comes to gift giving and knowing what we want or need, there is no greater gift giver then our Heavenly Father. The good thing about God is, we don't have to give Him a list to assure we won't get something we don't want. Jesus said that our Heavenly Father knows what we have need of before we even ask (Matthew 6:8). Just think about it. God knows us so well that He knows what we need before we even ask Him. Wouldn't it be great if we had a relationship with one another where we would know what each other needed before we even asked. James 1:17 says; "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights". Because God loves us so much and He knows us so well, every gift that He gives us is a good and perfect gift. It's just what we wanted and needed.
Jesus is that good and perfect gift and He is just what we need. The gift that your loved ones and friends need this Christmas can not be found in a store or mall. It can't be found online or on TV. The greatest gift of all can only be found through you, the believer. II Corinthians 5:18 says; "God has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given unto us the ministry of reconciliation". That means God, through Jesus, brought us back into right relationship with Him and He has given us, the believer the ministry of bringing people into a right relationship with Him. The only way your loved ones and friends can get this great gift is through you sharing your heart about Jesus and what He means to you. When you do and they receive your gift to them, they will say -- "This is the best gift ever!" . Merry Christmas everyone!
